I do exactly what Nathan does with Skype and it works well. You can check your Skype VM's and call internationally using Skype rates all from your mobile. -----Original Message----- From: nznog-bounces(a)list.waikato.ac.nz [mailto:nznog-bounces(a)list.waikato.ac.nz] On Behalf Of Nathan Ward Sent: Monday, 20 April 2009 2:47 p.m. To: nznog Subject: Re: [nznog] NAND I'm not sure what NAND stands for, but there was a trial about 10 or 15 years ago by either Telecom or Bellsouth (I forget which), putting "local" numbers on to mobile handsets. I think we can surmise by the lack of service offering now that they didn't go ahead with it. I have a Skype account with a couple of landline numbers in various places around the world, and I forward them to my mobile if I don't answer on my computer. It works fine for me, and Skype's NZ mobile termination rates aren't too bad so it's a good solution for me. On 20/04/2009, at 2:36 PM, Patrick Jordan-Smith wrote:
Presumably because they don't want to?

is there any nand experts on here? I just was just wondering why none of the moblie phone providers have but local numbers on a cell like we do in the states. I was just wondering not very familiar with NAND stuff here in NZ.
