Hi,
I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but domainz have not been able to help and suggested this list. We are a ChCh company with our own class C address, and as we were active on the net long before there were registrars or agents we do not have one -- I presume we are in effect our own registrar for the .nz namespace.
We now have a .com name and wish to redirect accesses to this domain name back to our .nz address, and to do this we have to register our nameserver(s) with the Internic.
The US registrar for our .com address cannot do this for us -- they say our registrar must do this for us -- but we don't have one. Domainz cannot do this either.
I didn't choose the US registrar, and the particular registrar that was chosen for me in the US cannot register ccTLD's -- is this the root of the problem ?.
Is anyone able to point me in the right direction ?
It appears you want to use name servers within .nz as the authoritative NS for your .com name. This is doable, but your .com registrar needs to MANUALLY request that those name server glue records be inserted in the VERISIGN .com zone file. You need to speak to the right person there who KNOWS what's what. One way to get around this MAY be to submit HOST templates for those .nz name server hostnames to NSI. They would then be sent by NSI to Verisign, and you could use those NS's for any com/net/org names you wanted. If you can't get this to work the other alternative is to just run DNS for this /.com name elsewhere, either with someone in NZ whos nameservers ARE in the root already, or with com/net/org name servers. But this is dicking around you shouldn't need to do. Any gTLD Registrar SHOULD have the nads to be able to insert ccTLD name servers into the records. Since there is no risk involved in disclosing such, if you can't get things happening, tell us the .com name involved, the .nz name servers you want to use, the Registrar involved, and there's bound to be someone in this list capable of finding the correct two heads and banging them together. Good luck, -- Andrew P. Gardner barcelona.com stolen, stmoritz.com stays. What's uniform about the UDRP? We could ask ICANN to send WIPO a clue, but do they have any to spare?
