You can get Telstra to give you optical delivery if you are ordering a 1Gbps circuit. Occasionally it's also possible to get it by asking. Otherwise, I'd suggest just reading the spec on the back of the media converter when it arrives. Telstra use several different types, and have both 100Mbps and 1Gbps converters. I don't believe it will be 1000Base-EX, 1000Base-ZX or 1000Base-BX-D. Most likely 1000Base-LX10 or 100Base-LX10. Hi,
I've got a Telstra fibre install happening next week, and I intend to plug the single mode tail straight into my Cisco 3750G via a Single Mode SFP, I've spent the afternoon tying to get the spec / wavelength out of Telstra & Downer to no avail..... the only answer they can come up with is its delivered as an "ethernet" service via a media converter, and go away... you pesky customer!
Could someone please let me know if its a 1310nm (1000BASE-EX), 1550nm (1000BASE-ZX), or 1490nm (1000BASE-BS-D), as I intend to "store" the media converter in a trash can once its commissioned, and want to order the SFP in advance of installation.
Kind Regards
