Demon internet in the UK used to change the TTL¹s of everything to 14 days otherwise their DNS servers would fall over... but that was in the late 90¹s.
I would hope they no longer do that.
Back when I was at Demon we set the TTLs on the domains we were authoritative for to 14 days but we didn't change the TTLs of data in the DNS caches, which is what Stuart was asking about. It is possible that things worked differently at other times but if so it's news to me. Regards, Leo
