Well, I know Cisco is not going to like me after this, but they never did say to keep it quiet. Cisco replaced all my 5200 Microcom modems with Micas ( at their cost ) due to the hugh problems with modem compatability. -----Original Message----- From: owner-nznog(a)list.waikato.ac.nz [mailto:owner-nznog(a)list.waikato.ac.nz]On Behalf Of Chris Wedgwood Sent: Thursday, 23 September 1999 11:51 To: Russell Street Cc: nznog(a)list.waikato.ac.nz Subject: Re: cisco AS5200 with V.90 modems...
We are considering upgrading the modem firmware in our cisco AS5200 to support V.90 connections. Anyone had any bad experiences with the combination?
mica or microcom? If the latter, I would say "run away, run away!" mostly because I still have tickets open after a year because of v.90 imcompatabilites with the microcom modems and certain v.34 modems. mica, on the other hand, although starting out very poorly, now seems pretty good -- although I really only have expeience with this on 240 port 5300s (ie. IOS 12.0.x), not 5200s, but I don't think that will matter much... -cw -- Chris Wedgwood chris.wedgwood(a)clear.co.nz --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
