I2 won't give us free or cheap gigabit access at home. It will give universities, other research organisations and similarly minded businesses a high speed collaborative platform. That's what it's there for.
So an "under subscription" scheme rather than the commercial "over subscription" scheme... Ahhh... That's right, it's better and faster, because almost no one is using it! If bandwidth and technology is cheap enough that the Government can set up something like this and presumably have it economically viable (while excluding fee paying commercial customers), then why can't our existing infrastructure be upgraded to similar or even better capabilities since there would be lots of $$ involved? Maybe I'm just naive... And have over simplified things. Just my 2c. Later'ish Craig
