Telecom certainly does have caching resolvers in the fine city of ChristChurch. They have been active since December but they are closed resolvers for Telecom customers. ns1 and ns2.xtra.co.nz. I would also hazard a guess that iHug/Vodafone have servers north of the Bombay hills as well given the resolution times seen in Dunedin. I haven't looked at TelstraClear recently enough to know if they do, perhaps they will comment... This implies that all ISPs have their caching DNS resolvers based in Auckland.
I would be very interested to know if that is that case. If anyone could enlighten me, on or off list, I would be very grateful.
To answer your question Jay, I have not heard that any of the major ISPs that have their resolvers outside of Auckland. -- Nathan Ward _______________________________________________ NZNOG mailing list NZNOG(a)list.waikato.ac.nz http://list.waikato.ac.nz/mailman/listinfo/nznog
