G'day all, I have steadfastly resisted publicly replying to Alan's comments about me on IRC and NZNOG in the past, however I feel that this latest occurrence rates mention. I have attached below the email that prompted Alan's recent post to NZNOG. I am sure that most will agree that Alan was only doing the responsible thing in fore warning us that another carriers netblock was about to be nominated for RBL, and if this one occurrence is taken in isolation then you could say that I was over reacting. This is not the case. Despite my repeated assurances that I have absolutely no influence, involvement or control over the networks and customers of Telstra Corporation Ltd (AS1221) I have continued to receive spam abuse mail from Alan. Alan has also repeatedly associated both myself and Telstra Saturn NZ Ltd with his ongoing dispute with Telstra Corp. in the public forum. Where I have received mail from Alan about those networks that I do have some influence over I have always endeavored to action them. Hopefully this post will make others aware of my position on this matter. I will leave the last word to Alan and his supporters, as I am sure that they will have more to say! Regards, Phill. Note that the thoughts related in this post are entirely my own. My employer has never blocked or null routed any networks or mail from anyone or any devices associated with orbs.org . -- Phillip Groom - Network Engineer mailto:pgroom(a)netlink.net.nz Telstra Saturn NZ Ltd http://www.netlink.net.nz -------- Original Message -------- Alan, You know from previous emails I have sent you that I support your anti-spam aims, even if I don't agree with the way that you try to achieve it. You also know from the many emails I have sent you, that I do not have any involvement with the networks or customers of Telstra Corporation Limited (AS1221). I have repeatedly asked you to stop sending me email complaining about spam or open relays originating from within those networks directly connected to Telstra Corporation Ltd (AS1221). In the past I have read every email you have sent me, and I have forwarded copies to those that I thought may be able to address the issues you have raised. I have also done my best to ensure that the networks directly connected to Telstra Saturn NZ Ltd do not host open mail relays. As far as I can see, I was the one person within both organisations most receptive to your aims and the one person most likely to achieve something for you. As of this last SPAM email from you, this has all changed. I will no longer be reading any mail from yourself or from <anything>@orbs.org . I request that you remove pgroom(a)telstra.net and pgroom(a)netlink.net.nz from any mailing lists maintained by yourself directly or by anyone else at orbs.org. :0: * ^From: alan(a)manawatu.gen.nz /dev/null :0: * ^From: database(a)orbs.org /dev/null Regards, Phill. -- Phillip Groom - Network Engineer mailto:pgroom(a)netlink.net.nz Telstra Saturn NZ Ltd http://www.netlink.net.nz Alan Brown wrote:
