Theres 30 videos covering over 24 hours (something like 20 GB of server space).
Thats compressed footage. The capture used roughly 400GB (15 GB per hour for 24 hours) The edited footage used another 400GB (sometimes several versions were made) And the various stages and versions of compression used 200 GB. A 1TB disk was used for the project and was just enough. Good thing they're affordable now. It was an interesting exercise in large scale transcoding. We used 4 quad-cores as a render wall. The transcode process took all of one week end - friday night to sunday night....or was it monday....it keeps the house warm. Our LAN server and LAN maxed out at 100mbps. must look for some cheap gig switches. We uploaded the footage (20GB) to the host server using sneaker net. (the server was at home for a rebuild) Recession aside, its a fairly typical working week. R
