Last week I and a few others had a marvellous tour of a TCL datacentre in Lower Hutt and it was clear they were happy to provide similar tours to interested people (contact me off list if you want details). This got me thinking as to whether there are others out there that provide similar tours and whether we should set up some sort of way for people to find out how to ask. Anyone have any thoughts? Was there a commercial motivation for the data centre tour, or is this some sort of new activity to replace train and aircraft spotting? regards Peter Mott Swizzle | Cloud Servers Tel. +64 21 279 4995 -/-

There always is, all that varies is the depth of that motivation in a specific circumstance. As you would expect, all commercial discussions are confidential.

Do I spot a twinkle in your eye? I make no apologies for being excited by datacentres and the kit within them. I also have a possibly old-fashioned belief that the more you understand about the services you provide, the services you rely on and the services you might choose to use then the better the decisions you are capable of making. cheers Jay
