Email from Real Networks (real-net.net).
I've been having a little problem with these guys over the last couple of weeks. Basicly they send out an email to a huge number of customers (everybody who every registered their software). The problem is that at over 2000 over the @ihug.co.nz address are no longer active and the emails bounce. I don't care about the above but their machines that handle the bounces are totally overloaded so the bounces hang obout in my outgoing queue slowing things down (until I gave them their own queue entry). Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any luck getting real networks to bulk unsubscribe a few thousand addresses at a time. I don't want to block them or anything since presumably most legit customers who get this email want it. -- Simon Lyall. | Newsmaster | Work: simon.lyall(a)ihug.co.nz Senior Network/System Admin | Postmaster | Home: simon(a)darkmere.gen.nz ihug, Auckland, NZ | Asst Doorman | Web: http://www.darkmere.gen.nz - To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

Let me guess, If it wasn't "Real Networks" you would block them without thinking twice. My policy is with spammers is to block first in most instances. On a few occasions, when the source of the spam has been local, I have tracked down the person responsible and read them the riot act... :-) As this appears to be an opt-in type email, but their system can't cope with the crap they are producing, I would block anyway as I consider this sort of thing to be in the same league. I would welcome any contributions in regards to my ideas. Michael . For an ISP the size of Simons it would not be my view to block all the incomming mail from Real Networks. 1000's of Ihug customers pay Ihug every month so that they can use Real Networks products. Imagine blocking Real Networks and then the customer needs tech support from the company. Some people would say to just block the address @ Real Networks not the domain but they change it every time depending on the offer. Remember . The Customer comes first. Ihug has a fairly good record for customer support. Blocking legit E-Mail that often offers security and updates would be a " Borg " like action .
