Associate Minister of Justice Paul Swain has welcomed the passage of his 'anti-hacking' bill to the Law and Order Select Committee.
I'm not happy that this is spammed to the NZNOG list. It's interesting but it's not an operational issue. It's a press release and I'd be quite happy to read about this in the press. --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

My apologies to all who take this position. I had the feeling hackers impacted on operations, and while it bears all the oozing self-congratulatory smugness of breed, there is some concrete information regarding the "consultation" that will take place which may or may not be included in what the press decides you should see. Horses mouth, or the other end, you decide. So, we can expect this not to happen again? Joe --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

I don't think we should tell him off for it. After all we have been discussing the very topic lately and I saw it as a bulletin to let us know it has progressed to the select committee stage. Albeit this could have been done in a shorter message than posting the press release.
So, we can expect this not to happen again? What I don't want is for the list to be regularly posted with press releases that normally goes to NZ politics.
