There will be a (hopefully) very brief outage on CityLink and WIX tonight somewhere between 5:30pm and 6:00pm while a backbone switch is upgraded. The outage will be while the switches pick up new MAC addresses and speeds are sorted out on some ports. This should be about 1 minute. Can anyone spread any more light on this? I'd like to know what kind of DoS attack causes such problems because presumably many many people are vulnerable.
It might be the "finger trouble in the NOC" attack, which seems to strike at random and take out entire continents every now and then. Or maybe it's some kind of "James Tyson has Left The Building" distributed denial of clue attack.
