Hi all,
I have heard some discussion in the recentpast (year or two) about the
potential for IPv4 number space being sold off as it becomes less freely
available. The following appears to be a real offer, and I checked with
David and he seems to be a real person and was OK for me to post this to
the list, so here it is.
I've not seen this before, but possibly that's because I'm less well
travelled than others on the list. Is this becoming common place? And
what's the 'street price' of an IP address at present?
Discuss.
Or call him :^)

So is it an asset or a liability? At what point is it cheaper to use IPv6 than continue with the old addressing scheme? Note that if you haven't already asked for your final allocation of IPv4 and you're an APNIC member (or are willing to join) you can get a /22 of IPv4 and a /32 of IPv6. The current assessment is that this IPv4 option will be available for up to 10 years.
can't speak to the APNIC region. In the ARIN region, asset transfers have occured, but always couched in terms of "right to use" and not that one could sell the integers. Could you share what range is on offer? /bill On Thu, Feb 09, 2012 at 02:09:15PM +1300, Gerard Creamer wrote:

To: Greetings,
My name is David Kuehl and I work for a technology-focused investment bank that is currently engaged to sell a large block of legacy Class A IPv4 addresses. Given that the global pool of IPv4 addresses is rapidly depleting, I was wondering if any NZNOG members are currently in need of additional addresses and interested in participating in this sale process. If so, please feel free to pass along my contact information to any members that would be interested in receiving additional information regarding this opportunity.
Thank you in advance for your assistance,
*David Kuehl*

I don't know. When I asked about posting his email to the NZNOG list he said "I’m fine with you posting this to the NZNOG mailing list, and feel free to use the message I’ve provided below (or your own version) as nothing within that message is confidential." So I thought the name would be out there somewhere already... Gerard On 9/02/2012 4:40 p.m., bmanning(a)vacation.karoshi.com wrote:

since he is an intermediary, it really doesn't clarify what exactly is on offer. :) I am pretty sure that some folks n the ARIN region would be interested. /bill On Thu, Feb 09, 2012 at 05:08:20PM +1300, Gerard Creamer wrote:
