Well, very much on topic I'd say, given some of the current discussions about IPv4 exhaustion and transition to IPv6. (This was from the RIPE 55 meeting.) There were some very interesting discussions about it at the meeting (have a look at Geoff Huston's presentation in the IPv4 depletion session - I think video archives will be up soon). Geoff's latest stats can be found at: http://www.potaroo.net/tools/ipv4/ and the current projected IANA Unallocated Address Pool Exhaustion date is 29 Jul 2010. So we are no longer talking 10-15 years here. The RIPE community came out with a statement on IPv4 depletion and deployment of IPv6 at the RIPE 55 meeting which can be found here: http://www.ripe.net/news/community-statement.html But this song at the end of the plenary on the Friday summed it up.
