Hi Folks, Anyone with Akamai contacts watching NZNOG today? I'd like to help them sort out geographic locations of IP address blocks. I think our distributed content should probably not be coming from Japan via the US. :-) 1 210.48.101.113 ip-210-48-101-113.iconz.net.nz 15ms 2 210.48.49.65 f3-0-2.core1.wlg.iconz.net.nz 31ms 3 210.48.118.39 f4-0-4.core1.akl.iconz.net.nz 31ms 4 202.14.100.254 f0-0.gw2.akl.iconz.net.nz 31ms 5 210.48.1.1 f0-0-sl-br-01a.akl.iconz.net 78ms 6 203.222.35.197 sl-gw1-auk-6-0-1.sprintlink.net 78ms 7 203.222.33.22 sl-bb21-syd-1-1.sprintlink.net 94ms 8 203.222.32.49 sl-bb21-syd-14-1.sprintlink.net 109ms 9 144.232.8.130 sl-bb21-sj-3-2.sprintlink.net 250ms 10 144.232.3.210 sl-bb25-sj-12-0.sprintlink.net 265ms 11 144.232.9.240 sl-st21-sj-12-0.sprintlink.net 250ms 12 144.232.19.22 unknown 250ms 13 129.250.5.61 xe-0-1-0.r20.mlpsca01.us.bb.gin.ntt.net 250ms 14 129.250.4.42 p64-1-3-0.r20.tokyjp01.jp.bb.gin.ntt.net 297ms 15 61.213.162.238 xe-0-0-0.a20.tokyjp01.jp.ra.gin.ntt.net 297ms 16 61.213.162.74 ge-3-0-0.a08.tokyjp01.jp.ra.gin.ntt.net 297ms 17 61.213.191.201 a61-213-191-201.deploy.akamaitechnologies.com 0ms Cheers, Jon ------------------------- Araneo Limited 230B Left Bank 116 Cuba Street Wellington 6011 Ph: 04 978 7350 Fx: 04 978 7355 Mb: 021 345 054 http://www.araneo.net.nz/ -------------------------

<snip traceroute>
It depends on your upstream, Mine look excellent via TCL or GG upstreams.
<snip more traceroutes> to try and save everyone pasting traceroutes: http://tr.meta.net.nz/output/akamai.png has a traceroute done to "www.akamai.com" by name (instead of the web interface, which always resolves to a single IP then traceroutes to that). The colour of the arrows shows the estimated rtt for that hop green being low, red being high, and brown being something in the middle. If you have a brown hop on your way to akamai, then you're probably transitting the pacific. Sorry about all the white boxes, my ebgp session is currently down so I can't easily do as# lookups :)
