The Australian Cyber security code for ISPs is available here: http://iia.net.au/images/resources/pdf/icode-v1.pdf I think there's a bunch of good stuff in this. There are some bits missing here of course. We don't have an equivalent of Cert Australia and The Australian Internet Security Initiative (AISI) http://www.acma.gov.au/WEB/STANDARD/pc=PC_310317 But if we did, how hard would it be for NZ ISPs to meet a similar set of requirements?
Hi Andy,
Interesting that this comes up, I was just talking to a colleague of mine
recently in regard to this and it appears that it is being addressed by the CCIP
(hxxp://www.ccip.govt.nz/) here in NZ.
I think it's on the agenda next week... but don't quote me :)
As for how hard, I don't think it would be too difficult to meet. I personally
think it is the ethical responsibility of ISPs to attempt to promote and
maintain acceptable use of the resources we make available to customers. No
doubt their will be many challenges in terms of governance, enforcement and
business buy in, but technically I don't really see this as a major problem..
Definately something to be discussed further.
Regards,
Andre

APE is a peering exchange, it is a service, it is not a place. APE exists across the city, wherever Citylink can deliver ethernet service. "At APE" is essentially meaningless. </pedant> I assume you mean in L47-48 of the Sky Tower - as Vocus have kit there, and lots of people seem to refer to those floors as "APE". You should talk to JDA who operate the Sky Tower, I'm sure they'd be happy to sell you space. They either sell full racks (which you may need to provide yourselves), or per-RU space in community racks. Warren Harding is almost certainly the person you want to speak to - or at least he was. -- Nathan Ward
