All Cisco stuff is hot Juha... just remember that...... =========================================================== 1/ Cisco 827/Soho77 Power supply recall. 2/ Cisco has sold 96,000 827's. ONE (1) had a power supply melt. Cisco has taken the decision to freely exchange the power supplies for a replacement. To date, we do not have an arrival date for the replacement power supplies, but when we do we will let you know. If you feel the odds of your power supply melting at 96,000:1 can be tolerated, then please feel free to continue to use your 827. (you might want to place it firmly on a metal shelf, to act as a heat sink, rather than atop another plastic case of something else. RDS) Please have a good look at the URLs below and let me know if you need more assistance. Consumers (you are all consumers aren't you???) can upgrade their power supplies directly with Cisco by filling in all of the details on an online form found at: http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/779/smbiz/programs/exchange/index.shtml#c... For distributors and Service Providers with stock, then look at: http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/779/smbiz/programs/exchange/partner/asia_... For a good FAQ please go to: http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/779/smbiz/programs/exchange/faq.shtml Thanks and regards, ========================================================================== The Nimda Virus email recently. I'd be keen on a combined function for several reasons i) the Internet was built on cooperation ii) not sure the grog capacity of even the largest vendor would stand the onslaught of a determined NOG. iii) probably need to put it under the Auspices and name of the NOG, as it is conceivable that there are a number of suits lacking a sense of humour. iv) I suggest each vendor present bring a DSL router to barbecue, on the principal that some think DSL is is broadband, and not the equivalent of a modern 56K modem. If no DSL available, then an M20 will do..... So what are your dates Dean, and then we can tell Andrew Gardner! err I don't think this is advisable since accidentally spilling beer onto routers etc may be frowned upon by insurance/suits. One option would be to wear geeky or vendor shirts/caps. I am sure everyone has something wearable given to them by Cisco/Juniper/ascent etc and these are not widely available stuff to the generic public. Another easy way to keep out the undesirables is to have the location and date known only to the people invited. Obviously the people invited aren't going to tell all and sundry (eg suits) as the more ppl = less grog/food. Anyway that's what I do when organising internet meets especially when the meet is at someone's home. As for who to invite, anyone can easily set up a list (eg I have account at einvite.com for such purposes) so people interested can ask to be added in (and once approved) will be notified of details when it is finalised. Such a list will also give us an idea of size of venue, amount of foodage and grog/bartab that may be required.
So what are your dates Dean, and then we can tell Andrew Gardner! yes AND don't forget to go very early to the airport and leave your leathermens/swissarmyknife etc in the checkin luggage.

Ah. DSIR memories come flooding back. Dweeb trainee technician walks into laboratory as you walk out. Dweebie trainee technician asked to switch the main circuit breaker at the entrance of the room back on, as your hands are full of test equipment. Ah yes, takes me back to my first day at an after-school gig at Tisco, learning to fix VCRs and the like. Grizzled techie says "Here, you'll need this!" and throws object across room. Lightning-fast teenage reflexes (now long gone, even with quake-provided-honing) cause me to catch said object neatly. Object is of course a very large and fully charged capacitor, the terminals of which both come into contact with my palm upon catching it. Zap. What fun.
