Hi all, The link from 2012.nznog.org for the Commodore Airport Hotel tells me that there are no rooms available on the 24th, 25th or 26th of January. (I mention this here in case other similarly-disorganised people have noticed similarly, and might benefit from the outpouring of advice that is surely only minutes away from starting.) Is there a group booking code I need to use to be included in an NZNOG room block? Alternatively, any recommendations for other hotels within staggering distance? Joe

Yes, enquiring minds want to know!

When I booked my accomodation last year I was advised that the NZNOG Group Booking code was 610764. I am waiting for news regarding the GST side of NZNOG registrations before I register for conference... sounds like the booking system cites GST content but doesn't provide a GST number? The last thing I need is to give our accounts folks a headache as my first move of 2012! Cheers Mark.
If we're not careful all the convenient accommodation will be booked out before any of this is resolved. I wish registrations had been open earlier. -----Original Message----- From: nznog-bounces(a)list.waikato.ac.nz [mailto:nznog-bounces(a)list.waikato.ac.nz] On Behalf Of Mark Foster Sent: Thursday, 5 January 2012 1:16 p.m. To: nznog(a)list.waikato.ac.nz Subject: Re: [nznog] Commodore Airport Hotel On 05/01/12 13:01, Andy Linton wrote:

That oversight has been fixed, go forth and register knowing your accounts team will be happy with the invoice. :) Sam.

By this I of course meant I booked for NZNOG 2012. I reread it and figured it might've looked rather obscure if I meant 'for last years conference'... Oh and Sam, thanks for the update re GST. All good... Mark.

It's working as intended now. For anyone who has registered already the GST number for the NZNOG Trust is 103-056-926. If you require a new invoice let me know. If you require a beer, then you should register. :) Sam.
I've just booked accommodation for me and a workmate at the Airport Gateway
Motor Lodge. Seems to be about 10 minutes walk from the conference, plus
has free airport transfers, 24 hours.
Was OK pricing, and doesn't look too bad on their website.

FYI chaps: the Copthorne Commodore still have rooms held under the NZNOG group code ( #610764) for NZ$190 incl GST the for a Superior room or there are Business level rooms at $240 per night.

And some are booked at http://www.airportpalmsmotelchch.co.nz/ as well. Mention NZNOG on the enquiry form, am pretty sure they will still have rooms. Gerard --- Gerard Creamer +64 21 246 2266 On 5/01/2012 3:03 p.m., Dave Mill wrote:

In case it is of help to others, my notes from "nearby" motels (walking distance if you don't mind walking, some of the ones further down the list are a pretty decent hike and/or seemed to have "booked out" issues, so YMMV). I booked at the Airport Palms, and as of earlier this morning it sounded as though they still had at least one more option for the Wed/Thu nights I wanted (ie, in addition to the one I booked). The list is of a "here, let me Google that for you" nature, but I did at least glance at most of the websites, so maybe it'll help someone. Room pricing appears to be... indicative of a shortage of accommodation in the city, and the motels seem to vary from "nearly new" through "classic NZ motel" based on online pictures. Ordered roughly in the order I found them. -=- cut here -=- Airport Palms Motel 56 Roydvale St Christchurch http://www.airportpalmsmotelchch.co.nz/ 0800 200 529 Airport Delta Motel 61 Roydvale Avenue Burnside Christchurch http://www.airportdelta.co.nz/ 0800 800 825 Airport Christchurch Motel 55 Roydvale Avenue Burnside http://www.airportchristchurch.co.nz/ 0800 800 631 Airport Lodge 105 Roydvale St Christchurch http://www.airportlodge.co.nz/ Airport Gateway Motorlodge 45 Roydvale St Christchurch http://www.airportgateway.co.nz/ 0800 242 839 (Sold out on Thu 26th IIRC) Airways Motel Cnr Russley Road and Dinton St Christchurch http://www.airwaysmotel.net.nz/ Airport Birches 390 Yaldhurst Road Christchurch http://www.airportbirchesmotel.co.nz/ -=- cut here -=- Ewen
Can anyone confirm that they've spoken to the Commodore, specified the NZNOG Group Ref, and had it confirmed there's no rooms left? It's not just a case of rooms outside of those that're blocked out for NZNOG being all-out? (Seems surprisingly early in the piece for them to be booked out) On 06/01/12 11:44, Ewen McNeill wrote:

When I called them yesterday, their first answer was that there were no
rooms.
But if you persist and say that you want to book one of the rooms that have
been blocked out for the NZNOG conference then they put you through to the
one person that knows about them. The reference number didn't do me much
good. When I called yesterday there were rooms still available in both
classes.

For both Airport Palms and Commodore you must tell them you are booking for
NZNOG or they will tell you they are full. After Monday the rates for
Commodore will go up $20-$30/night and the rooms will be available to non
NZNOG guests..

And they do have twin share rooms. I just booked one. Same rate as the other rooms, but two people share it.
I booked under the NZNOG group last night and there were rooms left. I wouldn't be surprised though at the lack of accommodation generally in CHCH with earthquake related contractors booking up rooms months in advance. -----Original Message----- From: nznog-bounces(a)list.waikato.ac.nz [mailto:nznog-bounces(a)list.waikato.ac.nz] On Behalf Of Mark Foster Sent: Friday, 6 January 2012 12:12 p.m. To: nznog(a)list.waikato.ac.nz Subject: Re: [nznog] Alternatives to...
