Ispmap / wix / ape - Slightly OT
Hey guys, I've added some extra details (AS, APE, WIX) to ispmap on page: http://www.ispmap.co.nz/searchisp.php . I was going to gather the data off www.ape.net.nz and www.wix.net.nz however through Telstra Clear I cannot load these sites as they go international. So I ask if people can submit their ISP (if you peer at WIX / APE). ISPNAME: WIX: Yes/No APE: Yes/No If you work for the provider: YES/NO Thanks Barry

That seems odd; I can load them fine from outside New Zealand. Joe
It happens when telstra break things, their cache servers dont like loading
national content via their international router. I've seen it often enough.

That's interesting.. Are their cache's fully transparent? If that's the case, you might find that the return path is something more domestic. IMO, using cache's in fully transparent mode is a rather broken thing to do, unless you cache on your entire border.. On 9/03/2005, at 6:59 AM, Barry Murphy wrote:

Cacheflow caches (If that's what Clear are using) when run in entirely transparent mode (not changing the ip addresss to the server when going thru it at all), need the data to go both ways thru it (as they do some kind of connection tracking, So if the data is Asymetrix (goes out internationally and comes back in Domestic) then the customers normally won't be able to see the website I've found. I've seem exactly the issue (a customer on Paradise not being able to see some websites due to asymetrix routing) You just have to be aware if you run the caches in this mode these type of things can happen. Thanks Craig
