I for one hope a document more or less like this is to be widely distributed.
In general it's desirable to avoid claiming NZNOG supports things, since NZNOG isn't an organisation with a process for declaring the organisation's opinion on something. However, if the meeting minutes already posted to this list are accurate, many active NZNOG participants do support the aproach outlined. In that case replacing the existing text with a reference to "many members of NZNOG" or "acting in consultation through the New Zealand Network Operators' Group" would make me happier, but wouldn't make a difference to the average recipient.
Which is fine, until it gets reported in the press in a more concise form, as "support from NZNOG" rathrer than the more precise but less snappy "support from many members of NZNOG" or so forth. Not that there is much that can be done about the vagaries of reporters. The problem is surely that NZNOG is a mailing list, no more. We exist to get things done, not to make pronouncements :-) --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

Hear hear :) Contrary to the recent infotech article which said: "[NZNOG]... an independent body, works under the auspices of the Internet Society of New Zealand." Except they called it "NOG" :) --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
