Procedure for handling a new spammer
There's a new outfit who seem to like bulk unsolicited email. It's pretty annoying as they're using Iconz as well and while I'm not totally clear on the specifics, this can't be good for any Iconz customers like me who don't want to be RBLed through someone else's behaviour. I've sent the spammer a short and sharp email as well as a note to abuse(a)iconz, is there anything else worth doing to help stop it in its tracks?

What I did was to complain to as many people as I could related to the spam.. This worked VERY well with Brendan Battles and after he got fired he posted to NANE a message towards me ... This "complain to as many people as you can find" has worked well with other spammers in the past and it works, even with no laws in NZ against spamming. ----- "Well, done making me look bad, what an effort on your part. Happy that I lost my job? Well hopefully I can find something better... opps... forgot to say Craig Whitemore of Orcon... "Shut the jack up!" ---- When 1 first emailed him concerning the spam and his relation to the USA Mr Battles said in a return email: "Same name, diff person. I live here in New Zealand... I was asked to send updates to previous people that had qoutes etc. I have had a few people say they did not ask for it or want it. So please accept my appologies and I will not bother you again..." And we all know what happened to Him http://tvnz.co.nz/view/page/411319/683434 Thanks Craig Whitmore http://www.spam.co.nz

They never seem to learn. Do chronic spammers display some psychopathic tendencies or are they just all really stupid?
I worked with Brendan for several months prior to his spamming episode. He's certainly not stupid. Perhaps just has some different ideas about what might be considered acceptable marketing techniques. However, I only saw one side of him. Shane On 5/07/2006, at 1:48 PM, Justin Cook wrote:

I'm not singling Brendan out in particular as this is the first I've heard of him, rather that there seem to be some pretty common traits between the serial spammers and the personality disorder mentioned. They'd have to be pretty solid or lacking in empathy not to 'get' the huge amount of hatred we all have for them. This is a little off topic now, but I enjoy psych discussions. Email me off thread if anyone wants to pick apart a spam king's head. Shane Hobson wrote:
