To answer a few questions, more general, we are not leaving Welli for good but will be hiding up in the mountains for most of the week and be in Welli the rest of the time. We are currently behind a 3g link in Te Horo and that works okish but something with a bit more grunt would be nice longer term. I'll do some tests tomorrow on 3g reception on the different networks and ask around the neighbourhood what they do but chances are that they have no need for permanent internet as the places are rented out most of the time. There is a phone line as well as a few other houses but the Chorus website tells me that they don't have any services there. I tried a few of the bigger providers and many tell me I can have VDSL but either don't come back to me or turn around and say "sorry, mate, can't"
