Re: RE: More on DDOS Attacks
Well, I've just gone to 12.0(8) on a 3620, up from 11.3, and that difference is most pleasent. 11.3 did not crash, but had some, um, infelicities. I'm quite happy with 12.0(8). Of course, if you want a stable release, well the following may amuse you (although it's not strictly IOS of couse, its a Catalyst 2926). we had almost 4 years on 10.3 on a 2500 - and only repowered it for an unnecessary y2k upgrade! does this mean the older the software the more reliable? philip beckman

Probably... it stands to reason that with fewer features you will have fewer bugs. Besides, haven't all the really clueful people left cisco for better places now? -cw --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

IOS isn't (wholy) developed by Cisco anymore - some corporate neighbours of ours in the Valley hack on it for Cisco. I wonder if it was them who leaked the source code... all 52MB (compressed) of it :) -cw --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

'Tis not for me to say. :) But no, not Microsoft. We did have a NAS in from a Certain Vendor the other day that consisted of a rack-mounted PC, running NT, and "banks" of modems in seperate chassis with a properietary bus connecting the whole mess. We were amused to see the PC had a sound card in it. We speculate that's so you can hear it reboot when script kiddies crash it, or so it can play WAV files to call for help. -- Josh Bailey (joshbailey(a)lucent.com) "Josh is... at large" -- F.W. --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

We've got a real Cisco that seems pretty stable: c1.dud uptime is 95 weeks, 2 days, 23 hours, 43 minutes System restarted by power-on at 17:11:16 +1200 Mon Apr 27 1998 System image file is "flash:igs-i-l.110-9", booted via flash It previously had been up for over 58 weeks but someone at XXX's exchange in Dunedin inadvertantly turned off the UPS. --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
