Domainz/SRS registrant data inaccuracies
Isn't there a requirement for registrants in .nz to provide accurate information? Look up: pheer.net.nz die.net.nz Does that look like a NZ phone number? Then there's waiariki.ac.nz, which was joe-jobbed by a spammer recently. The registrant and admin email bounces. -- Juha Saarinen
Im pretty sure there is, but the amount of people that actually provide accurate information is quite amazing. And it would be a bit hard to for the domain provider to actually validate any of this information. Juha asked:

Hmmm - Juha's either in hacker tracing mode, or looking for the list of credit card numbers? There is a requirement for registrants to provide accurate information. The general wording in the Registrar / Registrant agreement looks like "[The Registrant will] Make sure all information you give us [The Registrar] is accurate and complete, keep us informed of changes to any information you give us, and that you have the authority to enter into this agreement." So, if you are sufficiently concerned with a specific registration, your first action is to contact the Registrar. If details are not updated correctly within a reasonable time period, you could then contact the Domain Name Commissioner who has the authority to take further action, which could involve suspending the domain name, or even suspending the Registrar. But then I'm sure Juha knows all this already.. :-) Keith Davidson
