Multiple IPs on consumer DSL/Cable - CHCH
Hi, I've got a few servers in my home right now, which have come a couple of clients in the CBD. They'll VPN into them for the next week or three. Telstra tell me that the only way they can provision additional IPs to my cable modem is to convert it to a business plan, and that there will be a three month lead time. Not too helpful. Technically I know it can be done - we used to do this in Wellington, but for the bureaucracy.... Is there any other provider that could do something in the near future with this? None of the servers are rack mountable, so not great candidates for a DC really. DSL isn't currently connected to this site, but the local cabinet is approx 20m across the road. Thanks Craig
Maybe someone can jimmy you up a tunnel with a few IPs over it. What sort of bandwidth requirements do you have? That might help people decide if they can help. On 26/02/2011, at 3:46 PM, Craig Reynolds wrote:

Hi Guys, We can do multiple IPs on ADSL, but getting new circuits in Christchurch at the moment is hard... Temporary wireless and fibre for existing on-net sites is possible. We also have colocation space and can take non-rackmount kit on a shelf. Hi Craig, Give me a call and we can easy set you up with a tunnel as Nathan has suggested below and route you some space. We're in Christchurch and probably have some spare kit if you need a router or something :) Cheers, Russell. If they are going to VPN into it... What OS? Can't you run a VPN like Hamachi on each box, which doesn't need port forwarding, etc? A workaround also depends on what those servers serve.
Apart from the VPN, if it's all http and smtp, then you can proxy using
a single address using apache/postfix (assuming you have linux)
What are the actual requirements?

Ok, I emailed Craig, But I have ppl with hfc connections if needed. We can farm out machines to help business keep their stuff up. I can also put dns on that fast enough and also ddns if people need help with it. Yes, Linux will so all sorts of magic as well, for http we can reverse proxy content if needed. Interspire and DTS will also do /ip on dsl if needed. D On 26/02/2011 3:46 p.m., Craig Reynolds wrote:

Thanks for all the offers of help (and still receiving offers), the main server will go to the unleash DC in the interim. Thanks Erin. Best regards, Craig On 26/02/2011 3:46 p.m., Craig Reynolds wrote:
