If anyone is kind enough to be running a Max6000 with R2, could you please send me a copy of the Settings for the E1's so they will work with R2 :-) I set up the first 4000's at IHUG on PRI's years and years ago, about I don't know the "right" settings to R2's :-( Also. if anyone has a suggestion on most stable firmware for the 6000? 7.2? 8.1? 9.0? It would be great. Sig Mode=NEW ZEALAND Switch Type=CAS Framing Mode=G.703 etc etc etc Thanks Craig Whitmore Orcon Internet http://www.orcon.net.nz
Those settings you have look ok. As for the software, when I left 8.0 was just being released so I have no idea about it. Dean (who has forgotten all about 4000's since Ascend got taken over by the borg) On Tue, Aug 14, 2001 at 10:24:44AM +1200, Craig Whitmore wrote:

Thouse settings look good, butt crank up the answer delay to around 400, I seem to remember that some customers modems would not connect if the max answered too quickly.
As for software versions, I've been through just about all of them, finishing off with 9.0.0 which resulted in reboots, and call center timeouts, we then swiched to PRI lines and all our dail in woes were gone. You may like to try explicitly setting the Sig Mode to R2 as well, I've tried both seemed to have made no difference either way.

From memory (and only Josh can truely answer this.) The main difference between R2 and all the country varients is how CLI is handled.
The orig MFC R2 spec was a bit ambigous on how it did this so all the countries did it differently. Ascend had a HUGE job getting the Chinese R2 to work properly. So R2 will come up but it might not handle CLID the right way. New Zealand should get it right. Thanks for all your help.. I should have it all plugged in this afternoon. Another thing.. Is anyone familiar with Shiva LanRovers?? I have them working 100% except for 1 thing. Passing CID information back via Radius :-( Anyone used one of these (well we got a few)? Any suggestions. I understand they where not very popular when Sealcorp tried to sell them and everyone went to Cisco and Ascend. I was running 7.2.3 until one started spontaniously restarting on me.
Apparently a known fault, so I was told to upgrade TAOS.
Upgraded to 9.0.0 and all seems fine now. 9.0.0 even has virtual router
support, not that I'm using it.
