Re: Anyone know a realiable .COM registry?
Does anyone know of a _reliable_ .COM registry? NZ based would be good but not essential. Who do others use? Are you happy with them? Are their fees reasonable?
I use register.com and have found them good. They are not the chapeast around but no problems with them.
We are finding Network Solutions to e not worth the money. For the second time in as many years they have deactivated one of our domains for non payment of fees. In both cases the fees _had_ been paid. In this latest episode we even paid twice just to (vainly) try to stop it from being deactivated.
NSI are awful. You may find NSI will make it very hard to trasnfer your domain elsewhere. Good Luck. DPF --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

Actually, when transferring a gTLD domain the new registrar can initiate the transfer. Register.com provide a web interface to this, which is painless and doesn't involve interacting with NSI in any frustrating way. Didn't stop NSI sending me invoices for domains that they were no longer the registrar for, of course. I've been using dotster.com, and moving NSI names to there as they
come up for renewal.
They have a very sane and capable web interface. No idea what their
human email/voice support is like, since so far everything has always
worked so smoothly through the web interface.
They charge US$15/year, but they'll organise a transfer from NSI (or
wherever) and give you the first year for US$12 (again, all fully
automated through the website and auto-email). They have a neat
facility where you can organise the transfer to 50 or more NSI names
to dotster in one operation (well - you have to send 50 email
confirmations to NSI when they seek to approve the transfers). You can
track the whole transfer operation and the status of each name as it
goes through the stages of being transferred on the dotster website
(kinda like tracking your fedex parcel :).
You can also bulk register names, want to register

all in one go? Yeah, well so do I, but I don't feel like spending
~$3000 on the project :)
