Hi I'm a new subscriber to the list. I have a few questions I believe are appropriate for this list. On a non-authoritative nameserver running BIND is it possible (when sshed onto the server): 1. to view the current TTL on a cached record? 2. to force a cached record with some time still to run to expire, i.e. to re query the record. Using the nslookup or host commands is it possible to: query a nameserver to get the time till a cached name will be looked up host -t SOA domain.net returns the initial TTL, but not the time remaining Donovan Jones - To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

Yes. (http://homepages.tesco.net/~J.deBoynePollard/FGA/questions-with-yes-or-no-an...)

Yes.

Yes. (see Q1 above, this is the same thing) -- ** Colin Palmer, Systems and Development Group, University of Waikato, NZ ** - To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
2day.com has powered up some new name server hosts ... Name server New IPAddress Old IPAddress ------------------------------------------------- ns1.2day.com 202.37.240.3 202.37.240.13 ns2.2day.com 198.32.66.4 202.89.128.74 ns3.2day.com 198.32.66.42 209.240.128.25 Due to the months it takes ICANN/IANA to update the root name servers, TLD's AQ. and PN. [which are hosted on above] will also resolve on the old IP addresses. Hopefully NSI will update the host records in the registry overnight. We are told Domainz do the sensible thing and get the IP Address by looking up the name, rather than using their rather dodgy .nz register. [all fingers crossed several times] I am not expecting any problems with the changeover, but other ISP customers may be affected if I got it wrong :-) If anybody observes sillyness with a domain hosted by us, please report to dns(a)2day.com regards Peter Mott Chief Enthusiast 2DAY INTERNET LIMITED It's kind of fun to do the impossible - Walt Disney -/- - To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
