Telecom Rentals to Go Up Because of too many Internet Calls
Just something I saw this morning that some people might be interested in. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/storydisplay.cfm?storyID=584153 Quote from the Article. "Deputy Prime Minister Jim Anderton said he was concerned that a small minority of people over-using their home internet connections had contributed to the latest rental increase." I guess the government is telling all NZers to use the Internet Less :-( Thanks Craig Whitmore Orcon Internet http://www.orcon.net.nz - To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

I like the $180 million loss they keep going on about, I would have thought that instead of dropping their prices to compete against Saturn they would just give their entire network to Saturn to save money. It's a pity Anderton is too stupid to question what Telecom tells him, at least he might threaten to nationalize it, like he did with AirNZ. -- Simon Lyall. | Newsmaster | Work: simon.lyall(a)ihug.co.nz Senior Network/System Admin | Postmaster | Home: simon(a)darkmere.gen.nz ihug, Auckland, NZ | Asst Doorman | Web: http://www.darkmere.gen.nz - To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

I thought the only people who believed Telecom spin were Telecom staff... but it appears we have definitive proof that at least one politician also subscribes <sigh> InternetNZ has had some input at a political level, and would be happy to assist ISP's and NO's in this round. Unfair. I have been advised by an ISP today that he would be organising an event in Auckland where he would like all ISP's to join. He wishes to deliver a talk on Internet and Government matters.
