Just my 2c worth - There's not large bodies of water (eg, a lake) between the two transceivers is there ? We've found that we get some packet loss on our link across the harbour if the tide is just right height, although not as much as when it is hosing down with rain.. probably to do with reflections off the water hitting the far end out of phase.. And nice sunny days tend to produce nice calm flat reflective lakes.
