Dear NZIX Customers, The University of Waikato is replacing the single Cisco CAT 5000 NZIX switch with two fully redundant Cisco WS-2926 switches. The planned date for this cutover is Sunday 26 July at 0400 hours. The outage time will be 2 minutes. This new installation enables the University to rapidly restore the NZIX switch service should the primary switch fail. The installation of two switches also enables ISP's to dual home their routers to the NZIX switch provided they have a suitable repeater installed. ISP routers that are not dual homed will be manually patched to the backup switch in the event of a fault. If any ISP isn't dual homed and wishes to be dual homed please contact me for a quote.
