There now appear to be two versions of this list. http://www.tcn.bowenvale.co.nz/content/view/49/40/ and http://www.usenet.net.nz/noc/index.html We have recently been assigned a public AS and I thought we should probably go on the list - as we're growing our things breaking will have a wider impact and other NOs might want to get hold of us. I have no issue with being woken up in the middle of the night when our things break. I have a strong objection to being woken up when someone elses things break. Personally I like the (mostly) unlinked anonymity of the list at usenet.net.nz, as it's less likely to be some kid who has no idea what an AS is calling at 2am because the gaming server they're using in suddenly unreachable (probably due to some reason other than our network being broken). Sure, the kid might ultimately pay my wages, but they're sure as hell not my customer... I emailed Simon Lyall yesterday to ask to go on the list at usenet.net.nz - is this still going to be considered the NO list? I know there's no king and all that jazz, but some direction for a newbie AS NO would be appreciated... For the record, here's our guff: Name Netspace Services Limited Domains netspace.net.nz ASN(s) 9733 Phone Number(s) +64 4 917 8098, 0800 NETSPACE (0800 638 772) Clueful People Gerard Creamer Direct Email noc(a)netspace.net.nz Hours Office Thanks, Gerard

From my point of view, until such time as Simon says otherwise, usenet.net.nz/noc is the 'one true list'. I hardly see it as respectful of Simons efforts to date to simply superceed his list without him giving approval.
So Simon, I'd say you need to comment... Mark.

I'll comment instead. Since about 11pm last night I have taken on the task of helping simon with the list. What I plan to do: * Last night emails were sent to various people who have sent updates to check the details are still valid. * Emails also sent to a few ppl who I know have out of date details. Note quite finished with that process yet. * I'll update the list. Probably prepare a new noc list leaving the old one old for the moment. It can stay old for a few more days. So you won't see updates happening. * I'll put the new contact list online. * I'll then email others on the old list to check the details. Hopefully it'll be updated and current. Hope that is ok with you all. regards lin
Re Simon, I think it's just rude and disrespectful that he hasn't over turned the rains or give people the heads up that some help is required. You want to bash me because I put up a solution... fine, what eva. Lin, great work, if yours goes up somewhere then I'll take my out dated version down. Cheers Don Lin Nah wrote:

What I plan to do: * Last night emails were sent to various people who have sent updates to check the details are still valid. I do have all of them. Simon forwarded them to me on Thurs evening at 23:15. There's no need to resend it. I won't be contact people who sent updates since Dec 1 as I'll have deemed them still current.
If you haven't been emailed OR sent an update since Dec 1, BUT your details are incorrect, please feel free to fill out the form to send an update.
* Emails also sent to a few ppl who I know have out of date details. Note quite finished with that process yet. oops s/Note/Not/
Also I haven't set any deadlines for myself as to when this major update will be completed. It is being slotted in with other important tasks I have at the moment. BTW let me be clear, Simon hasn't "handed over the reins" on keeping this list. He's taken on a helper (ie me). I am sure at some point he'll be doing the task of updating info sent in. Just not while I am doing this major update and checking. To Don Gould and anyone else: I don't see much need to keep going on about this and abusing Simon over it. He does realise it is important to have the information as current as possible. I myself have been guilty of not keeping up with things. One of the moderators will probably be piping in soon to let us know the thread has gone pass operational relevance. SO please let's end this topic for now. If you feel (when I am done) that I haven't done a good job of it, you can start it again. Hope everyone manages to keep their stress levels down while getting stuff done before the brown out begins. 8) Enjoy your christmas parties. Peace and Goodwill to all! regards lin
No one else has commented on the apparent typo in the subject so... Yes, please sign me up for the NO contact list! And now to get back on topic, I'd like to remind people that there are two lists available that may be useful: Who uses the APE? http://ape.nzix.net/peers.html Who uses the WIX? http://wix.nzix.net/peers.html These are built each week from the contact details each AS holder has registered at APNIC and I know that all of you keep that info up to date. It seems that APNIC's a good place to keep this data current as its where someone from overseas is likely to look if they need to contact someone with clue about routing issues. Also if you plan to use the INOC-DBA phones it seems to make sense to keep that data current.
