Hello .nz ! Perhaps some of you already heard about netlantis... The purpose of the netlantis project is to offer "human readable" output of the global BGP table status (as most realtime as possible, most of the time <2 min delay to reality). There are different tools on the website you can discover by yourself. There is also a whois and a telnet interface. We're actually running 5 RouteCollectors (including one in common with the RIS project of RIPE NCC), 2 in USA and 3 in Europe. There should be a new RouteCollector soon in south africa and one in greece. We've got now 78 BGP peers (including large and small ISP from all around the world), which makes almost 7'200'000 prefixes stored in the central database. Netlantis will be presented at the next SWINOG meeting (22oct 2003) in Bern, CH Indeed netlantis is FREE and only done by private people investing their free time, there is nothing to buy nor to sell at netlantis :-) Now, and that's why I mail you, I'm looking for sponsors in NZ. The "best" would be to have a RouteCollector on the APE lan. A typical RouteCollector is a P3 1Ghz with 1Gbyte of ram. The sponsors will be, indeed, listed on the netlantis.org website and in any presenation of netlantis. But hosting a RouteCollector at an ISP is also possible.
