Large Bolts of Electricity
Apparently of operational interest to at least one ISP in Auckland. http://www.patho.gen.nz/~jabley/MVC-103F.JPG Fifteen strikes this morning, apparently. We saw two of them clearly on the way to work this morning, and can confirm that they were Really Cool :) Joe --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

Glad the sun was shining when we were up there Joe! How much did Warren say that lightening conductor was worth? Pictures of our melted starnet transmitter posted here as soon as the weather lightens enough for us to get it down off the tower. (Assuming it's melted spectacularly enough to merit posting pictures). I'm pleased we had a hot spare standing by. Did you get hit directly? The strikes I saw looked like they landed on the conductor right at the top of the tower -- I thought your to-customer transmitter was quite a bit lower than that?

It is - I don't think we wore a direct strike, but certainly the transmitter was dead dead dead. JSR -- John S Russell - IHUG Engineering Manager --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
