Dear Sir/Madam,
We refer to our letter of invitation to you for the APT workshop on "Networking Strategies for Regional Internet Traffic Routing Arrangements" which will be held from 9 to 11 May 2002 at the Palasia Hotel, Koror, Republic of Palau.
We have also sent a "Call for Papers" for the workshop alongwith the invitation letter. We are again sending the "Call for Papers" for your consideration. Please find attached the "Call for Paper" and the tentative program for the workshop.
The workshop which will be of 2 ½ days duration will bring the Service Providers, regulators, administrations and other concerned parties of the Asia-Pacific region to discuss on the suitable architecture for regional Internet traffic routing arrangements.
This workshop will have an impact on the future of Internet traffic routing of the Asia-Pacific region, as it will be discussing the setting up of an Internet hub in the Asia-Pacific region. Therefore, we highly encourage participation from experts from your administration/organization who are skilled in the areas of Internet Networking and Routing.
Please request the expert to send the presentation title, abstract and biodata by 15 March 2002 to the APT Secretariat, Bangkok, at aptsg(a)aptsec.org mailto:aptsg(a)aptsec.org or fax +662 573 7479/574 4226 for our evaluation purposes.
The presentation should be sent to the above address by 5 April 2002.
The expert can choose one of the topics below for the presentation with respect to the architectural alternatives for the Asia-Pacific Internet traffic routing arrangements:
* Issues to be considered for a regional Internet traffic routing hub * Services issues (DNS forwarders, mirror sites, WWW caches) * QoS/Network Management issues (Latency, QoS, regional Network Management, etc.) * Peering issues (inter and intra-region) * Charging, regulatory issues

Marginally OT perhaps but may be of interest to list members nevertheless. Those who remember the international internet charging issue/fiasco (which, by the way is still doing its merry rounds within APEC TEL and ITU Study group 3 but with little prospect of getting anywhere, fortunately) may be interested to know that it all started within the APT.
