Hey guys, For people who want to know about how to get to the NZNOG '05 conference, you might want to catch the Overlander train that Tranz Scenic run. There's 2 every day (1 from Wellington - Auckland & 1 from Auckland - Wellington). You can get more info about these trains if you want to on Tranz Scenic's web site, at: http://www.tranzscenic.co.nz/services/overlander.aspx Hope this helps. While the train is a nice ride, it does take 11 hours to get to Hamilton from Wellington, and costs $132 backpacker, or around $150-$160 in normal seats. (Return) Flying takes an hour, but is around $180 return (if you pick crappy times). How many are driving up? I'm tempted, but only have a crappy car and restricted license so wouldn't want to take anyone else. I'd be keen to get a ride if anyone has room and wants a little petrol money, rather than just drive up myself. Oh, and if I do drive up, what is the fastest way? Desert Rd, National Park/Taumanui, or some other route? Perhaps people going from Auckland to Hamilton want to coordinate rides too? Cheers, Tim.
