On Thursday 4 September 2003 in Wellington, there will be an Anti-spam Workshop co hosted by InternetNZ and the DMA with the support of TelstraClear.
It is an opportunity for those in the NZ Internet industry to discuss solutions to the problem of spam.
Spam is now high on everyone's hit list, but there, agreement seems to end.
Suggestions for addressing the increasing deluge of unwanted material range from "too bad; its the internet" through "technology will save the day" to "public stoning is not enough for spammers".
InternetNZ, in association with the Direct Marketing Association of New Zealand and with the support of TelstraClear, is bringing together experts and interested individuals from within the New Zealand Internet industry in an effort to craft a multidisciplinary approach to solving this problem.
Included in the those presenting to the workshop are: - Enrique Salem, CEO of Brightmail, one of the worlds leading suppliers of anti-spam solutions - David Harris, InternetNZ Councillor and author of a comprehensive review of spam and approaches to its control (paper at http://tinyurl.com/kkd8) - Representative of the DMA - Officials from the Ministry of Economic Development and other NZ government agencies

There is no charge to participate in the workshop.
