Re: [nznog] Hello all & a word on SPEWS DNS blackhole

Hooray. Nothing like a post like that to restore my faith in humanity :^) We've got: 202.6.116.0/23 and for a short time longer, 210.55.104.0/26 - although that is technically assigned to Maxnet, not directly to us, and we are phasing out mailing from addresses in that range. Here's hoping I didn't break the threading with this post - I need to turn off digest mode :) -- --Michael Fincham Unleash Technology Solutions
For those of you whom this might interest, the spews listing is for 202.6.116.0/22, but we only have the /23 bottom half of that address space. We had initially assumed that the other half must belong to some mail admin who had put the wrong netmask on, but upon closer inspection that space is currently with APNIC. It is possible we were recently assigned some recycled previously-assigned-to-porn-spammers IP space. With spews not being updated since Aug 06, this would probably have gone unnoticed. This might be something to keep in mind when battling some seemingly unthinkable spam issues. When listed by spews, it also becomes impossible to email postmaster(a)xisp.com, at least with the ISPs we tried to contact. What is the normal practice among admins? Do you spam filter your postmaster@ address, abuse@, etc?
