Hey All, Can anyone here give me a stright answer as to what has happened to paradise today, both work and our clients in wellington have had issues twice today for peroids of upto 1 hour each time. Work is on Citylink Connection to Paradise and our clients on DSL and Cable. The first time this morning the paradise helpdesk number was overloaded and we couldnt get an answer, the 2nd time we talked and they said they knew about it and refursed to say anything. Does anyone know anything or do i have to wait a week for them to release a statement? Cheers
You will probably have to wait until the press release.. I doubt any network guru's are going to want to risk their job by posting to a mailing list ;) Cheers -----Original Message----- From: Tristram Cheer [mailto:tristram(a)wtfhax.com] Sent: Monday, 16 August 2004 6:16 p.m. To: nznog(a)list.waikato.ac.nz Subject: [nznog] Paradise Issues Today Hey All, Can anyone here give me a stright answer as to what has happened to paradise today, both work and our clients in wellington have had issues twice today for peroids of upto 1 hour each time. If they're gurus worth listening to, they will probably have no problem finding a new job somewhere that doesn't punish engineers for telling the truth to customers. (and if they're working somewhere that punishes engineers for telling the truth to customers, they're probably already looking for another job) Joe

Afer 55 minutes on hold yesterday, the helpdesk monkey told me that it was "snow on the wires in Wellington." Yeah, right...

One of the Cisco GSR's had some major CEF (Customer Enragement Feature) issues. She is named Bertha, and she was New Zealand's first gigabit router. -----Original Message----- From: Tristram Cheer [mailto:tristram(a)wtfhax.com] Sent: Monday, 16 August 2004 6:16 p.m. Mmmm, TAC calls! My favourite! "Our GSR is faulty!" "Nahhh .. not likely. That's crazy talk!" "No, really! There's a CEF problem we think.." "Turn CEF off." "It already IS off." "Oh .. then turn it on." "We _tried_ that. It made it worse." "Oh .. then upgrade IOS." "It's the latest stable version with the featureset we need!" "Oh .. then downgrade IOS. Can I close this ticket now?" JSR -- John S Russell | Big Geek | Doing geek stuff.
That sounds like a recording of calls I've logged with Cisco TAC ! I especially liked the one many years ago where the engineer insisted that there was no problem as he had thoroughly tested the ios in the Cisco lab. When asked if they had an Exchange with e1 ports to simulate incoming calls to the as5300 he replied, "E1 ? we don't use E1's in the states buddy"
