On a more serious note, will there be similar domains made available to other ethnic groups in NZ? Otherwise it wouldn't be fair, would it?
This is getting off topic and probably better on an InternetNZ list but I thought it was worth answering the specific question. The criteria that has been in place for new 2LDs is that they are for a distinct community of interest. So far only two communities of interest have applied in four years - bankers and the NZ Maori Internet Society (whoops actually there was an informal application from Cliff Pratt on behalf of all the Cliffs in NZ!). If other communities of interest apply there would be no barriers beyond the steps taken as part of the policy process which apply to all applications.
