Domainz -- Ringing Helpdesk Phones
Domainz have sent a letter to every nameholder under .NZ with details of the new Domainz/Glazier system; it appears that some have already arrived with nameholders this morning. Some definitely haven't (I haven't received anything yet). The letter advises nameholders to contact their ISP for more information. Operators may want to find out from Domainz exactly what nameholders have been told, so that they are able to field questions on the helpdesk. --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
Joe, I've attached a copy of the letter sent below. The target audience is exactly the same as the Y2K letter we mailed to all .nz Name Holders last October (Unique name holder and unique physical mailing address). Regarding dealing to the responses from the letter, most enquiries that we are receiving indicate that the Name holder and address is OK, but the contact details (typically the representative and email address) are incorrect and have not been updated in the .nz Register. Many are telling us that they do not have their authorisation key to make the changes. This naturally puts some pressure on their ISP to help in the change process. The letter mailed to .nz Name holders has a unique identifier. Domainz is happy to make simple changes on the Name holder's behalf where they send back to us marked up Changes on that original letter. The name holder can post to Private bag 1810 Wellington, or fax on (04) 473-4569 and we will take care the update. Where there are more significant changes (eg the physical address is incorrect or a change of Name holder is required) we are making sure that an authorisation key request or Change of name holder process is gone through. We are again happy to manage that process of getting the name holders to write in for keys or go through the Change of Name holder process. My regards, Patrick -------- 3 March, 2000 Our ref: holder_name holder_contact holder_address1 holder_address2 holder_address3 holder_city holder_country holder_postcode Dear .nz Domain Name Holder For Your Information - Changes to the .nz Register This letter is to advise you as a .nz Name Holder of the changes planned to the Domain Registration System. We are now being swamped with calls from people who have read the letter but dont understand what it means. They are particularly concerned that DOMAINZ are talking about a customer ID and password. We are advising customers to ring DOMAINZ for an explanation. regards Peter Mott Chief Enthusiast 2Day.com -/- --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

After all, telling them anything different would be a breach of the NDA that the "registrar focus group" participants are being held under. The only ISPs who are permitted to reveal the facts to their customers are those who don't know them. --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

I know <deleted> received one, as not long after <deleted> opened the
letter, I ended up fielding questions about it.
I didn't have a lot of answers, however.
*sigh*
