As most of you will know my now, there have been a number of terrorist attacks in the US. All phone circuits over here are overloaded and email is about the only thing left working after popular new sites have collapsed under the load. Any communications to and from the East Cost of the US are suffering something terrible... email still works but thats about it for many places. Watching this live is truly chilling... --cw --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
Traffic patterns are starting to stabilize and web-sites such as CNN are now visible again (although they modified the content to reduce load on their servers). Everything has taken on a eerie silence... --cw On Wed, Sep 12, 2001 at 03:26:58AM +1200, Chris Wedgwood wrote: As most of you will know my now, there have been a number of terrorist attacks in the US. A brief update for those interested: * the east coast has waken to the first day of the maftermath, the west coast is waking as I write this * the demeanor of the people is moving from shock and anxiety to anger, discussion of extreme retribution amongst those in the streets is common; life continues in many places but at a slower, more caution pace. People are very grim. * facilities at 32 Old Slip and 25 Broadway have no AC power and some (all?) of the generators have either failed because dust or are low on diesel fuel * some services to 60 Hudson have been disrupted * because of the security perimeter nobody is able to gain access to make repairs and diesel trucks cannot at present make deliveries, there is some uncertainty to whether the remaining operation facilities in 32 Old Slip, 25 Broadway and even 60 Hudson will continue to operate at present levels --cw --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
