I think you will find you are being replied to off-list. Might want to keep it that way as this is really an issue between yourself and Orcon and the only responses that have been back to the list have been less than helpful..... It's hardly an operational topic.

Dear NZNOG, I have been having a problem with my, er, "cat". It just wont house train properly. Sometimes it urinates on my router and I lose packets. I think the problem started when I named him "detonate", but I don't want to rename him now as he is easily confused. What should I do? Lots of love and kisses, (XXOOXOXOXOX), Drew. Dear Urinating Cat Owner, Might I suggest nappies http://www.dog-nappy.co.uk/Cat_design.htm for your cat. Highlights of the nappy include, designs for both male and female, Velcro straps among many others. As far as your cats name is concerned I would suggest something with a similar sound to its current name. Foliate, Procreate, Speculate, Mas... Dear Drew The problem is that you have only one cat. For proper networking, you need at least 4 more. Love nznog(@tracs.co.nz)

If you get even more cats then the speed will be better. We all know that cat6 > cat4. And don't even get me started on peering...

You're all clearly asking 'cat' to do things it wasn't designed for - see: http://harmful.cat-v.org/cat-v/unix_prog_design.pdf

They are not operational, relevant or even beer-mentioning.

Couldn't agree more, NZNOG amateur comedy hour (affecting most new threads in the last few months) is significantly more disruptive than the odd mis-directed home-user DSL problem. At least one of my former colleagues has unsubscribed as a result.
