Howdy, Do you think NZNog archives will ever become searchable? Once before I managed to find something I was looking for by clicking through each thread but this is proving to be more and more difficult as the list gets bigger and bigger. It would be nice if there was a search function on it. What I'm looking for is a list of NZ owned IP addresses, if I recall, maxnet has a URL with a list of these. Any help would be appreciated in locating this link. Thanks Barry

Doesn't a Google search (maxnet site:list.waikato.ac.nz) do what you want? -- Juha Saarinen

Why thank you to all of you who sent that, should have used the brain before
asking. Is it possible for that to be added to the nznog.org site perhaps,
should be a simple input tag with a submit?
For those that don't know :)
Thanks
Barry

Your best bet would be a Google with site:list.waikato.ac.nz as one of the terms. Though I'm not sure how comprehensive or up-to-date Google's crawling of the site is.
What I'm looking for is a list of NZ owned IP addresses, if I recall, maxnet has a URL with a list of these.
Not sure if it's quite what you wanted, but this site might help: http://ip-to-country.directi.com/ You can download there a database with the location of every IP range, just pull out the NZ bits if you wish. -Simon

There is something similar available called geoip from : http://www.maxmind.com/app/standard country level resolution is free, and you can pay for city level (they claim). They provide API's from most decent languages, the perl module was simple to setup and use. I haven't established how accurate it is (anyone have any comments?), but they seem to update it relatively frequently. -- Donovan Jones
