Tony, Just wondering where you heard this as I am sat at home right now on a Wholesale TelstraCable connection that runs straight into our network. If they are dropping wholesale I'll have a busy week next week moving our customers. Hmm.. Cheers, Bill -- Bill Walker Senior Network Engineer Snap Internet Limited They informed me this when I asked to check for cable availability for a couple of customers. My impression is they are refusing to add new connections for wholesale customers not so much existing ones. But who knows ? You would have thought some sort of official announcement would have been appropriate not just (quote) – “we do not resale cable modems” And further clarification when asked – “We no longer wholesale cable modems” I know there has been very little interest from wholesale ISP’s in wholesaling cable (that can be expected when the wholesale price exceeds the Telco’s retail price and at lower speeds), but it does seem strange. Especially with the work being done to improve the wholesale access and redundancy to the network. This reeks of a its too hard to do the paperwork so we’ll just tell customers we don’t do it anymore if they ask. Its really quite disappointing, I wonder what they would do if Telecom came along and asked for wholesale access.
Tony, We provisioned the first cable connection into Pegasus Township this morning and had no issues.
