Yeah, poor choice of terminology on my part perhaps. I was referring to the fact that a tier 1 provider was reachable via another tier 1 provider i.e. peered, so from the point of view of the endpoint traffic transits the first tier 1 to reach the second :-) Cheers, Gordon

And because they don't need transit, they are top tier. It is after all a self-fulfilling and self-referring definition.
