Waiuku/ glen brook area wireless access
Hey guys My parents have just recently moved out to the country, how ever telecom has stated they will not be able to install a phone line for them until December or early next year. How ever they require internet access, they have already approached woosh, woosh has said they do not cover that area, wired country they have also contacted and they said they need to be in view of the pukekohe hills, in this case my parents aren't Is anyone aware of any other wireless internet service that covers the gelnbrook, waiuku , pukekohe area? http://www.inspire.net.nz/59.html http://www.iconz.co.nz/hom_extend.php BCL Wireless appears to have coverage there, not cheap but should be reliable. Might even be able to supply a phone line as well. The Shin satellite is just about to come online and this could change well things. Garrett Stoupe wrote:

Hey Garrett, Tony and all, We (R2) have been using the ipSTAR satellite for about a year on and off so far now. It works really well, and we've been very happy with it. which is different from the one they just launched. The west/east profile gives a rather "interesting" coverage map and the performance will be different from the intelsat (north/south profile) they are currently using. dang mountains ! -- Steve.

indeed - but it will give us relief from those mysterious drop outs of several hours around 12 noon in April and September. (ie equinox) At Karapiro the dish was 5deg off north and at 45deg elevation - at equinox....... of course using both birds would be nice....but so would lower latency, higher bandwidth, cheaper access, no rain, more money, air conditioning in the van, cheaper diesel, better hotels, better food, <sigh>
