Just a reminder on behalf of our Austrlian colleagues that AusNOG-02 takes place next Thursday and Friday in Sydney. A NZ presence there would be much appreciated, particularly given many around the world hold NZNOG up as an example of a well- functioning NOG. I'm sure that's just asking for smart remarks from the dysfunctional amongst us! :) Full details at the now spangly http://www.ausnog.net/ Cheers, Jonny. (oh, and register for APNIC26 in Christchurch if you haven't already. Otherwise you'll be missing out on some good training and presentations. And more importantly leaving it up to others to decide what to do with the remaining IPv4 space...)
I'm the reverse... I'll be at AusNOG02 (sponsoring it actually) and Sat evening fly to Christchurch for APNIC26... I hope you guys over there will be nice to some lost Aussies for the week who don't really know anyone there. It is also my first APNIC conference, so I have no idea what to expect really. I was going to ask actually... and this might seem naive, but do you guys have any 3G broadband? Or citywide wireless? I will have my hotel rooms access (I hope!), but I've still got to support things during the day, and I don't fancy spending all day on Vodafone.au GPRS at $10000000/kilobyte. If there is any 3G/HSDPA/iBurst kind of thing... does anyone rent it for the week? I also assume the APNIC26 venue will have some sort of Wifi for us to access. ...Skeeve -- Skeeve Stevens, Managing Director eintellego Pty Ltd - The ISP Specialists skeeve(a)eintellego.net / www.eintellego.net Phone: (+612) 8197 2760, Fax: (+612) 8572 9954 Cell +61 (0)414 753 383 / skype://skeeve -- NOC, NOC, who's there? -----Original Message----- From: Jonny Martin [mailto:jonny(a)jonnynet.net] Sent: Tuesday, 12 August 2008 9:52 PM To: NZNOG Subject: [nznog] AusNOG-02 Just a reminder on behalf of our Austrlian colleagues that AusNOG-02 takes place next Thursday and Friday in Sydney. Don't be shy, that's about all there is to it.

Yes, there will be wifi right through the meeting venue, and penetrating as far into the Crown Plaza as we feasibly can. It'll be far cheaper for you to sign up for a month of local service if you really need 3G service (either Telecom or Vodafone) - though I'm sure there'll be enough friendly locals about with who could lend you a 3G card if you needed to fix something whilst outside the venue. Cheers, Jonny.

Yep, I'm expecting to be there, and I've got a bluetoothable phone with 3G goo and a data plan if you're really stuck and need Internet. -- Nathan Ward

Cool. Just set it to "discoverable" and everyone'll be able to use it without all that awkward mucking around with, y'know, asking 'n' stuff. :-) - mark -- Mark Newton Email: newton(a)internode.com.au (W) Network Engineer Email: newton(a)atdot.dotat.org (H) Internode Systems Pty Ltd Desk: +61-8-82282999 "Network Man" - Anagram of "Mark Newton" Mobile: +61-416-202-223
