RE: vixies vixens strick again - MAPS / RBS
Is it really necessary to post a web link, as well as pasting the entire text contained on the linked page into the message? Please just post the link in future. Regards Greg

it's always important to post the text and url. the url may not be valid at a future time - so always good to record the text in the lists archives. for posterity of course and the url for verification. regards joe On Wed, 31 Oct 2001, Greg Clare wrote:

Not everyone has ready access to a web browser all the time, so having the link, and the text is very useful to some, and most considerate of the person posting to do so, imho. Yes, although it does risk having people reply without snipping irrelevant content, leading to message bloat. SNIP Oh, and if the list manager could make the first line of the nznog sig to be two hyphens follwed by a space, you might find most email clients will not include the sig in quotes anymore. -- Andrew P. But this is nznog, where we *all* know about snipping and brevity... Keith Davidson - To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

As someone kindly pointed out privately, the missing posts contained traces of Dr Baptista in the headers, and were consequently suppressed by my kook filter. Keith forgot to reply to all, and his message slipped through. Sorry about the noise. --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog

Sorry about the noise.
I predicted this would happen with filters. When you filter people you should expect to miss a few posts here and there. Unfortunately people who filter always end up asking the question "am i missing something" much as Mr. Abley has done here. This unfortunately does raise the noise level just a tad. One rule of thumb I use is that if I filter someone I should always expect to "miss a few posts" here and there. So I always ask the question "Am I missing posts" privately to the person posting so I don't look foolish later. Filtering is always guranteed to cause a few missing posts here and there. regards joe -- Joe Baptista http://www.dot-god.com/ The dot.GOD Registry, Limited The Executive Plaza, Suite 908 150 West 51st Street Tel: 1 (208) 330-4173 Manhattan Island NYC 10019 USA Fax: 1 (208) 293-9773 - To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
